LOOK AT YOU

Wow look at you? I go quiet for a couple of days and you have the full thing under control. To be honest, our wireless seemed to be down, and then realized after a couple of days of fiddling with wires etc, that in fact I’d only gone and knocked the plug out behind the dresser when hoovering! That will teach me! So glad to see that in my absence so much got done. I am eager to start on the branding brief as soon as possible. I have got a wonderful designer I work with who would be perfect for this. Let me know when you are ready and we will Skype and chat through your ideas. I will set aside a few days next week to write up the brief. Are we 100% about ‘Elderflower & Delilah’ as the brand name, I love it. Do you?

LOOK AT YOU

Getting serious

Hey Delilah,

Where are you? Not heard from you in a couple of days. Well, Legal stuff – tick. You should’ve seen the face of the young male Lawyer who hadn’t a clue what product I was presenting to him (he said he normally gets mechanical objects brought into him). Gave him the full “Dragon’s Den” style presentation, complete with display boards and demo (obviously less the real feeding baby). He was flushed as soon as I mentioned “breastfeeding” think the addition of even a plastic doll would’ve had had him running. But he knows his stuff and I was armed ready with questions to make use of the free time I had before the pound per second charge was due to set in! Lots to share with you on Skype. Also, thank you for the beautiful leather handmade sandals. I’ll get a photo of Annie in them. Did you say that you met the designer/maker at the Bondi Markets? How lucky are you to have that on your doorstep. They’re gorgeous.

Skype soon,

~ Elderflower XXxx

Morning Delilah

Morning Delilah (or should I say “Evenin’!”),

My minds buzzing with so many ideas for this project that I feel I’m going to POP. I’ve been sketching out designs for other tops too (it could be a range) or am I getting ahead of myself??? As I’m beavering away I feel gutted that potentially I won’t be feeding long enough to make use of these myself. I’ve chatted to a few people about the plans, and I’m being reminded about how we really need to ‘test run’ the top on Feeding Mammas, ones that have no connection with you or I and will give us unbiased opinion on it. I know it works for me, but will it work for everyone? Another Lawyer friend of mine was talking about the copyright patent of the design and logo (EeeeeK, it’s getting all a bit serious!), so have booked a free ½ hr session with a Patent Lawyer – gonna have to ditch my puke stained t’s and flats with something smart and some killer heels and show ‘em I mean BUSINESS (even if I’m not entirely sure what it all means!!!).

Love my bamboo socks

Hey Elderflower,

Nice work with the mum and the adjustments. Let’s set up a Skype chat so I can see it too. The bamboo socks are friggin’ amazing! I don’t know how to explain the feeling really other than they kinda gave me goose pimples when I put them on! Not sure what that says about me, but they are the best. Breathable, soft and smooth to touch. Wow, bamboo hey? Never would have thought.
Gorgeous pic of you and Annie. Wow I can’t believe I have never met her. She’ll be up and running around in no time. It makes me sad to think I am missing out on her growing up. More pics please!

You there Delilah?

You there? I’m up late so figure you might be around with it being brekkie time there. Had the house covered in fabric remnants and paper patterns since I last wrote to you. Brought my cut out sample to the friend I mentioned who’s got a tiny baby and keen to cover post bump bulges, she tried on the new scalloped edge version of the top and was really happy with the result! Let me know what you think.

Exciting news…

Hey Delilah!

The top arrived! I was so excited when I went to collect the package from the Post Office, I couldn’t get to the car quick enough and opened it up whilst I sat in the car park…the anticipation nearly killed me. What a gorgeous job your seamstress did, the invisible hem is beautiful (“bias binding” I’ve since learned on my dressmaking course), you can tell she’s very experienced and super talented.

I absolutely LOVE it. And seems I’m not the only one, since having this top made in this striking fabric, you wouldn’t believe how much interest has been sparked….whenever I latch Annie on, in it’s full discreet coverage, I have enquiries about where to get one, and that’s mostly strangers! Get’s me even more excited and spurred on that this is a product that Mummies really want. One Mummy friend who has not long had her daughter by c-section suggested a scalloped edge on the waist and back to disguise post baby bulges, I think she’s right. I’ll mock up one up (Get ME! Ain’t this dressmaking course paying off??) and send you a pic, but for the time being, this one is serving me really well – thank you!

Did you get the Bamboo socks yet? They’re just a small taster for what the fabric might be like for use as a top. Hear it is comfy, easily washed and non creasable…..this could be it Delilah!

Missing your face Elderflower

Elderflower, you are going to LOVE it. Manuka has done such an amazing job. I have already packaged up (quite nicely, if I do say myself), and it’s en-route to Liverpool as we speak. I have also included the pattern too, so maybe you can test your seamstress skills and knock one up too!

I can’t wait for you to get it.

Also, check out this blog that is run by a mum in Bondi and her sister. It’s great inspiration: Little Gatherer http://littlegatherer.com

Missing your face Elderflower

Did you get the sample?

So, any news on the top Delilah? I’m desperate to see what your seamstress has rustled up. So pleased you found some nice material to test it out in, the original one I made was from odds and ends – it’s going to look great….but the anticipation is killing me.

I’ve been picking up various fabrics for the top to send to you too. One of my favourites by far has been the Bamboo cotton mix, beautifully soft and breathable too (in fact I picked you up a pair of the BAM socks for you to try to get a feel for the fabric – really lush. Have a look at the website https://www.bambooclothing.co.uk/). The blimmin’ post cost more than the socks themselves, can you believe it?

I’m getting so excited about this venture that I’ve signed up to an evening course in dressmaking (thought we could save on the cost of seamstresses mocking up our ideas). In stark contrast to my Burlesque Tuesday nights, on Monday nights I’m sat amongst a group of lively women (aged 20-70). The upbeat chatter and free flowing tea is a warm reminder of why I love Liverpool so much, the older ladies are raucous and I’m lucky enough to be planted right in amongst them in classroom. You never know, maybe I will be soon trained up to rustle up my own tassles and frills for a performance….haha! A LONG way off that!

Did you get the sample?

The next Dita von tease

Seriously Elderflower, you sound like you are going to be ready for the big stage in no time. Forget the new breastfeeding top venture, maybe you are going to be the next Dita Von Tease!
OK, lets stop daydreaming. THE TOP ARRIVED!!! I have just picked it up from the post office. I am super excited. Wow it looks so simple when I lay it out. I even tried it on, I know I am not technically breastfeeding but I found a teddy of Byron’s and tucked it under to see how it worked. Its great! I will text Manuka my lovely dressmaker friend (she is the owner of http://www.allaboutheidi.com, where I bought those wonderful leather sandals for Annie), and see if she can work up a sample that works. I bought some beautiful fabric I think you’ll like, so I will give her that to work with for now. She said it should only take a week. Wow, I am bursting with excitement. What’s more, I will be able to start working on a brand with you – that will be fun going through the process. Who said distance changes anything. I love that we can do this on opposite sides of the world! It means we will get things done quicker too. When I am asleep you will be actioning things I haven’t in the day and vice versa. LOVE IT!

Red lipstick & Gandolf’s cloak

Firstly, I LOVE THOSE CHARACTERS! Byron is such a lucky little boy.

Delilah! Can you really see me in Tassels???? Anyhow, they’re aren’t any BIG enough to cover these……have you forgotten the size of Breastfed nipples?…..I could hang Gandolf’s cloak on them at the moment. No, think I might stay a little more covered till my body settles back. But, I can’t recommend it enough, it has come at exactly the right time for me, ready for me to re claim ownership of my body again….hurray! ……And, bought my very first ever rouge lippy…..felt a bit of an idiot walking around town with Mally and the girls on Sunday after the MAC counter insisted that I sample it…..and when I eventually caught a glance at myself, the makeup artist had drawn all around my lips with the darkest red staining stuff ever made!!! Looked like I had done ten rounds with Tyson!!! A show!!!!!, At least I know it will last the night, when the time comes to eventually make use of it.

Posted the breastfeeding sample top to you with a paper pattern, paid extra for a fast delivery, so hopefully you’ll receive it in the next few days.
